Collecting Treasures

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Something about going to the beach brings the kid out in us again. I’m 65 and was treated to a beach trip by my sweet husband for our 46th anniversary. As we walked the beach, I saw women and men that were older than me (or at least I think everyone is older than me) walking the beach stopping to pick up a special seashell or sea glass or driftwood. What they saw was important enough to stop, bend over and take the time to pick up. Treasures to them. I saw one man with a bright plastic pail and a child’s net and plastic shovel combing the beach and digging for treasures. The kid in us comes out. We are on a treasure hunt.

I thought how the Word of God is like that. It’s like a treasure hunt. Just like walking the beach, as we walk through life our wonderful God puts treasures before us as we learn from Him through His Word and voice. They are treasures of the soul. Beautiful thoughts, creative ideas, life lessons to help us succeed and truth to set us free from the inside out. I love God’s Word. It is life to those who find it
