And we’re off!

Reading Time: 2 minutes

And we’re off! The year of 2023 has begun. There are so many things that can take our time, energy and attention. We have decisions and choices to make daily. One of the most valuable decisions of a follower of Jesus Christ is the choice to give their whole day to God. WHAT? My whole day? God knows we have responsibilities and “work” to accomplish. We can’t just drop everything and ignore the needs around us. He just would like to be there every moment helping us. The Holy Spirit that abides in us as Christians is the Helper. God never leaves us so being cognizant and aware of His presence throughout our day is strengthening and brings confidence and peace and direction.

How to Spend Time with God Throughout the Day?
• It’s got to be given priority in your life – give Him your undivided attention
It is a challenge in this era of “running to and fro” and heightened busyness to make that time with God happen. It’s challenging for us all. Whether it’s being in the Bible reading His Word, or praying with your whole heart and in the Spirit or just being quiet before Him and acknowledging He is God, this decision of time spent is crucial for our spiritual health.
• “Go into your closet” or diminish distractions by choosing a quiet place where you will be undisturbed.
• You can look for quick opportunities during the day
1. There are times in life when we feel overtaken by circumstances. Just pausing and quietly, with eyes closed, speak the name “ JESUS” while taking a deep breath. It brings comfort.
2. Listen to an audible Bible while driving places.
3. Pray/sing/worship while you shower and get dressed.
4. Talk to Him while doing your makeup.
5. Go for a walk and connect with God as you enjoy being outside. Breath Him in deeply.
6. If you go by an accident, pray for the people involved including the emergency workers. Pray for prisoners working along the roadsides picking up trash when you see them.
7. If you are artsy, draw a verse out. Find a verse in your Bible and draw out the picture in your mind.
• The key is to keep yourself mindful of God’s presence throughout your day and while you are taking care of the day’s needs

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
MATTHEW 6:33

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
EPHESIANS 5:15-16

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
ROMANS 10:15
