God spoke and said “let there be light and there was light.” He created everything we needed before He made us. But when sin through Eve and Adam’s disobedience entered the world we were to live in, darkness in the form of evil came with it.
There was the greater light (the sun) created for the day and the lesser light (the moon) created for the night along with the stars. These were created for the natural realm we live in. But the world spiritually now was full of sin leading to death and causing a darkness to be in our world with all kinds of evil. There was now no spiritual light inside of mankind. We went from being clothed in God’s glory to being ashamed and naked. We went from being full of spiritual light to darkness in our hearts. Our relationship with God had changed. Fellowship had been broken. This sin in our hearts separated us from being with our holy, perfect Father God. He still loved us. He still wanted to be with His children.
He would fix this but there had to be the restoration of “light” into people’s souls. Their souls had been darkened because of the stain of sin on human hearts. We all sin and fall short. There is not one of us who has not sinned since Adam & Eve in that beautiful garden. We’ve all been put in the dark. But God would send His light into hearts if they would open them to Him. God the Father would send His Son to be our Light again. He would save us from our sins and the darkness that held us captive. Jesus said , “ I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes and trusts in Me [as Savior—all those who anchor their hope in Me and rely on the truth of My message] will not continue to live in darkness.” 2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
This is how we would be free from everlasting darkness. It is in opening our hearts to God’s gift to us, His Son Jesus. This would restore the light and glory of God into our lives. If you would, close your eyes and picture Jesus smiling at you. He calls you into the light. He wants you to be free from your burden of sin and darkness. He calls you into His marvelous light.
