Always PRAY

Reading Time: 4 minutes

“OH, how can I do that? Always pray? That’s impossible.”

I believe what Jesus is saying here is to always stay in contact with your heavenly Father. Stay in touch. Stay in His presence. It’s a heart attitude and openness to God. It’s a spiritual practice. Spirit to spirit we stay in communion with Him. In the book of Ephesians the Apostle Paul lays out what our “armor” is for standing strong in the Lord. Included in that instruction he tells us to “pray always” in chapter 6 verse 18. He exhorts us to pray all kinds of prayers in the Spirit and persevere.

Perseverance is to continue in a course of action even in the face of difficulty or with little or no prospect of success. We all have experienced times it seems our prayers are not working. The trouble or situation continues. Now is the time to remind yourself of the truth that what is impossible for us to do, God can do. All things are possible with God. (Matthew 19:26)

To persevere in prayer is to persist in it and maintain your purpose of praying in spite of difficulty, obstacles, or discouragement; continue steadfastly. I know I say this all the time in my blogs and it is worth repeating that it is one day at a time, day in and day out.

You go about your day doing what that day holds for you. You remember that God is with you and within you. You do what needs to be done and stay in touch with your heavenly Father talking to Him , casting your care on Him and listening for His voice. You go about your work. When the disciples asked Jesus in John 6:28-29 after he had fed the five thousand and walked on water “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” Continue to share your heart with God and place your needs before Him and

Stay in touch with God with an open heart, continue steadfast and believe and you will be “always praying”. It will benefit you in your life. In Romans 8:26 God tells us that Holy Spirit is always helping us to pray. Whether it is with our own words or spiritual utterances through the Spirit our prayer will be effective as we TRUST God with our whole heart and open our mouth to pray. James 5:16 tells us the effectual fervent prayer of the righteous avails much.

Synonyms of avail are

help,

aid,

benefit,

assist, be of use to,

be useful to,

profit,

be of advantage to

and be of service to.

That’s what prayer does in our lives. Powerful isn’t it?!

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you to pray always. Stay at rest in your relationship with Jesus. Remember it is not our works but believing God to work. Whether you feel anything or see anything keep an open conversation with the God of all creation through the King of kings and the Lord of lords, our precious Savior Jesus Christ and be filled by His Spirit as you flow in prayer and go through your day.

My Father in heaven,

I open my heart to You. I worship You. You are always there for me. I believe Your word. My hope and trust is in You. Romans 5:5 says that hope does not disappoint because your love has been poured out within my heart through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Holy Spirit, help me to remember to pray. Help me in what I pray. Thank you, God that it says in Psalm 138:8 that You, Lord, will perfect what concerns me: your mercy, O Lord, endures for ever.
You are good God and I trust You to help, lead and guide me as I walk through this day. I yield to You. I put my family, friends and loved ones in your hands today believing you are working all things together for good. All that concerns me I put in Your hands. I cast my care on You because You care about me as it says in 1 Peter 5:7. My prayer is to respond to Your purposes as I stay in touch with You. You love me. You have called me. I love You because You first loved me. Your love flows through me to others and Your Holy Spirit makes me effective in prayer. I praise You God for who you are. I thank You for Your goodness and Your love in my life. Amen
