Psalm 2 – Kiss the Son

I have read the second Psalm many times over the years and I didn’t recognize this verse as written below. So, I reread Psalm 2 in the NKJV and the Amplified version. As you see below it is the NLT version which stands for New Living Translation. I discovered that this version of the Bible gives you a modern English translation that is accurate in meanings while keeping to the form and structure of the original scriptures. There is a fine line between achieving word-for-word accuracy and thought-for-thought contemporary meaning. We need to understand what the scriptures are saying to respond yet it is imperative spiritually that it is true to the original Greek or Hebrew. The scripture reference below starts out T H E N. My question was W H E N. When is T H E N? If you go to the prior verses and pay attention to verse 7 it is the answer in my opinion. God is declaring a decree that Jesus Christ (notice the capital S in Son) is His Son. It says just ask and you will have the nations for your inheritance and the ends of the earth for your possession. Jesus broke the curse. He broke the hold on us through sin. We can escape this world’s corruption through Him. The “THEN” is when you declare because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross and His resurrection that “the LORD has said to me, “You are my son/daughter”. Today He has begotten me. I am His. This is what we call being “in Christ”, “born-again”, “saved”. It continues afterwards in verse 12 “Kiss the Son”. In other words, make up with God by accepting His provision for you through His SON. Draw close to Him through Jesus. Stay close enough to kiss. Stay FACE to FACE. Don’t turn and walk away. Don’t hide your face because of shame. He is the lifter of our head. (Psalm 3:3) Look up and behold His beauty and His love and acceptance of you. Accept the truth that He loves you and respond and T H E N . . . . . . .
