We start to doubt God hears us when we don’t see an answer or things don’t go the way we want them to. There are many reasons these things happen but I want to assure you, the One who loves you, who created you, who calls you by name is always listening and always moving on your behalf. Let’s backtrack for a moment. If you have a desire to to do something whether ministry, career, or a life decision, the Father expects you to step out and do it. You see we are not like chess pieces being moved about a board, we are free agents, we make decisions typically based on our talents, passions, experience and knowledge. When we think about our lives up to this point can you see the hand of God? Did He protect you at least once, most likely several times. Did He bring people into your path? Open opportunities? Has He ever provided for you? A gift, money, a job? you see sometimes we want to pigeonhole God, make Him operate the way man would or the way we want Him to but He is so much bigger and better than us! the Word of God says, He causes all things to work together for good. That means, through our choices and decisions He causes His plan to work!! Isn’t that a relief!
Let’s take a look at the men and women in Scripture as examples. I think we tend to deify these people. The disciples argued and fought with each other. The men of old lied, cheated and tricked people. They had affairs, they made some pretty poor choices yet the plans of God were carried out! why? Because each one when they saw they messed up and left their fellowship with the Father, repented – turned from their ways. And God still used them. Their faults were written for us to see, for us to learn from and also for us to understand God uses us faults and all! You see God hears you because He knows you, He is always working on your behalf. He has a plan and you are part of it! He assigns angels to watch over you and He gives you wisdom from His Word. His Holy Spirit is working inside you to reveal His will and to lead you to success! We also forget that we have an adversary the devil, who goes about as a roaring Lion seeking whom he can devour and destroy. When bad things happen, when people betray you or lies are spoken when dreams don’t materialize it is the devil that is a liar, a thief and a destroyer- not God! No God works despite these things. So, what is our part? Resist the devil and he will flee. We must constantly recognize the earmarks of that evil one and not let his schemes be counted as the work of God. For in God is no darkness at all. He is light and life. He is love – always love! And love answers… so keep moving forward, being strengthened by Him, receiving wisdom and power to overcome the strategies of the enemy.
