We are triune beings. (Body, Spirit, Soul)
“Let US make man in Our image,
according to Our likeness” Genesis 1:26
But until we accept Jesus as Savior and get born-again we are walking around like zombies with dead spirits. “What? How can you say that?” you ask.
Remember what God said when conversing with Adam and Eve about life in the Garden? He spoke to them about the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He told them they could eat freely from every tree but of the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they could not eat, for in the day that they did eat of it they would surely die.” Let me ask you, what died in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve were deceived by Lucifer by not believing what God said and ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil?
What died was the fellowship of their spirits with God. It was a spiritual death. God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and in Truth. The glory had left. It left a void in their spirits. They were separated from God because of sin. They felt naked. They wanted to cover themselves and hide. Sin had entered the world. Everyone from Adam and Eve are now born in sin which leads to permanent death. (Forever being separated from God)
Jesus came to remedy this death of our spiritual relationship with God. We all see the consequences of the fall and sin in our world. Pain, killing, sickness, loss, confusion, hatred, prejudice, selfishness, etc. and ultimately physical death. What Jesus accomplished gave us all the opportunity to “come back alive” here and now through accepting Him and the gift of the Holy Spirit. He gives us eternal life.
The Holy Spirit helps us from the inside out. Being this new creature in Christ brings changes. The Holy Spirit changes us as we behold Jesus. He continually reminds us of who Jesus is and who we are in Him. He points to Jesus and reminds us of that. HE says “That’s not who you are anymore. That’s the old you. Put on the NEW YOU. Behold Jesus. Be like Jesus.” The Holy Spirit reveals JESUS. He always gives us Jesus. Jesus gives us this NEW LIFE and the Holy Spirit helps us as we walk it.
