Oh, it’s so satisfying to eat something that you have looked forward to having and really enjoy. The Thanksgiving meal is like that. There are the yearly, traditional family dishes that go with your turkey that you just can’t do without. Every once in a while a decision is made to try some new and exciting recipe to add variety to the meal. Sometimes the new recipe turns out good and sometimes you decide not to make that one again. Not everyone will veer off the traditional plate of food so you coax them by saying “Please try this”.
The difference between food for the body and what God gives to nourish us is that what God gives is always good and helpful. God gave us Jesus, His Son, the Bread of Life. My sister in law Linda says often “I have done life without Jesus and with Jesus. With Jesus is so much better!”. I concur and say “Please try Jesus”. Life is not always good but God is.
Once you’ve taken refuge in Him and tasted life with Him your life will be better.
Better because He is always with you. He promises to never leave you or forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5) We still go through trials, struggles and heartaches but through it all He nourishes us and gives us strength, and hope, and love, and joy and peace that passes understanding. Please taste and see the Lord is good.
