Being Rooted

Roots give you the condition of being settled and stable. For example, the roots of your family or strong roots to where you grew up. A root serves as a base or a support like in your teeth, hair and nerves. In plants and trees a root serves as support, draws minerals and water from the surrounding soil, and sometimes stores food

Jeremiah 17:7-8 – But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.

The advantages of being rooted in Christ are inexhaustible because HE is the source of life and light to all creation. Man is the highest form of God’s creation among the animals and the creatures that live on this earth. (So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27) Some benefits of being rooted in Jesus are: stability, continual nourishment, God’s guidance, wisdom, joy, fruitfulness, peace, comfort, light, assurance of salvation, and purpose. (Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Psalm 103:2)

The consequences of not being rooted

 

We all know without adequate nourishment from its life-source, a plant withers and dies. God is our life force. It’s only in connection with Him we have life. Jesus is our connection to our heavenly Father, our Creator. If we remain disconnected from Christ, then we will be unable to access life to the full. We become much more susceptible to being dragged into negativity without an anchor to provide stability during times of turbulent times.

 

Mark 4:6, Matthew 13:6 – But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.

 

Mark 4:17, Matthew 13:21 – But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.

 
 
 

In these days of trouble, confusion and pressure, get connected to God through Christ the Son. As you learn of Him through reading your Bible and talking to Him He will be the “roots” you need to stay standing as you journey through life.

Ephesians 3: 16-18 – I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love will be fully capable of comprehending with all the saints (God’s people) the width and length and height and depth of His love [fully experiencing that amazing, endless love];

 
 
 

Colossians 2:6-7 – So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
